Adding a Map
Certain content types have a field called "map." There are multiple ways to add a map, listed below from simplest to most complicated. Because maps are a bit quirky, the WYSIWYG editor has been turned off for this field. If you know what you are doing, turn it on by selecting "rich text" from the input format list. Google maps will be used as an illustration, but you may use whatever map site you prefer.
A Map Link:
- Go to Google Maps, and select your map location.
- In the upper right corner of the map, there is a "link" button. Select it.
- In the first box which says "Paste link in email or IM" select and copy the text, which must begin with "http://..."
- Return to the content page you are editing, and paste the link in the box.
- When you "Save" the page, this gibberish will automatically turn into a link to google maps.
Embedding a pretty map
- Go to Google Maps, and select your map location.
- In the upper right corner of the map, there is a "link" button. Select it.
- In the second box which says "Paste HTML to embed in website" select and copy the text. It must begin with "<iframe..."
- Return to the content page you are editing, and paste the link in the box. For the iframe to work, the input format MUST be "plain text." This is selected by default, but if you are having problems, check the input formats immediately below the text box.
- When you "Save" the page, this gibberish will automatically turn into a pretty google map which links to a larger map.
