ELIGIBILITY
The Amazon Dragons Paddling Club welcomes women of at least16 years of age and all fitness levels to participate. Interested women need not identify as lesbian in order to participate in the club, but must be willing to positively promote the mission of lesbian support and community with which the club was established and continues to promote today.
CLUB POLICIES
New paddlers can practice with the club three times for free before joining as a member. To become a full member of the club, participants pay an annual due of $100 as well as a one-time membership fee to Dragon Sports, USA of $30.
RACES
We prepare for four to five races a year including the annual Rose Festival Dragon Boat races. Most races are located in the Pacific Northwest, but we have traveled as far as Canada and California as well.
Each race has a roster of club paddlers. All race rosters are selected by the head coach, and are based on the needs of the race, paddler skill, attendance at practice, commitment, coachability and overall team blend. Selection to a roster does not guarantee that you will paddle in the race. All race rosters have additional paddlers selected in order to cover the possibility of illness or injury. Each race has a roster fee. Current roster fees are $35 per event.
CLUB ACTIVITIES
In addition to racing and practicing, Amazons also participate in fundraising activities and community service projects. These activities help us develop our club financially, and connect us to the larger community.
